<p>We would like to invite all market participants to the<strong> Market Coupling Consultative Group meeting (MCCG)</strong>, which takes place on <strong>Monday,</strong> <strong>June 2, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.</strong> and will be held <strong>online</strong>. <p>We would like to inform you that on the page <a href="https://www.ote-cr.cz/../../documentation/xsd-wsdl-ote-public-web-services" class="state-published navTreeCurrentItem navTreeCurrentNode active navTreeFolderish contenttype-folder" title=""> XSD, WSDL, OTE public web services</a> we have published XSD and WSDL templates, which will be deployed in the production environment during the system downtime on <strong>March 25, 2025</strong>.</p>

<p>Although the test results confirmed the overall readiness of the project, the Market Coupling Steering Committee decided, <strong>due to non-technical readiness of some Parties, on the postponement of the project go-live of 15-Minute Market Time Unit (MTU) in SDAC from 11 June 2025 to 30 September 2025 (delivery date 1 October 2025).</strong> The updated detailed planning will be shared at the upcoming Market Coupling Consultive Group (MCCG) and Market Stakeholder Committee (MESC) meetings on 2 June 2025 and 3 July 2025, respectively.</p> <p>The company OTE, a.s., the nominated market operator (NEMO) in the Czech Republic, along with several other NEMOs, confirmed their full individual readiness to meet the planned go-live date of 11 June 2025, based on positive results from testing of both local and central systems. The readiness of OTE, a.s., was announced through a <a href="https://www.ote-cr.cz/commitment-to-timely-implementation-of-15-minute-market-time-unit-in-single-day-ahead-coupling-on-11th-june-2025?set_language=en">joint statement</a> published on the market operator’s website on 30 April 2025 and subsequently confirmed at the Market Coupling Steering Committee meeting. The market operator considers the 15-Minute MTU implementation as a significant step toward increasing the efficiency and flexibility of the market. Aiming to provide these benefits to market participants as soon as possible, OTE, a.s., has been actively engaged in close cooperation with all involved parties throughout the various phases of the project. <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>It has been almost 20 years since every customer of electricity can choose their supplier. In the gas market, this option has been in place for 18 years. Functioning open energy markets, both in the Czech Republic and within the framework of international cooperation, enable consumers to freely choose a supplier, and thus better conditions for consumers, not only from the point of view of commodity prices themselves, but also of additional accompanying services. Also for this reason, there is vigorous competition in the field of energy supplies in the Czech Republic.</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;">As can be seen from the statistical data of the market operator, which administers supplier changes in the Czech Republic, interest in changing energy suppliers has not abated even in 2024. Last year, 579,344 customers decided to change their electricity supplier, and a total of 204,696 customers decided to change their gas supplier. Thus, interest in changing electricity and gas suppliers is still at high levels. In the gas market, this is a more than twenty percent increase in changes compared to 2023, when 171,306 supplier changes took place.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Customers change suppliers for many reasons, whether due to the end of fixed-term contracts, price developments on the electricity market or gas market, or because of additional services offered beyond the scope of electricity or gas supply, or due to generally better information about the market situation. The data show that last year, customers most often switched to larger suppliers, such as ČEZ Prodej, PRE and E.ON.  However, the majority of supplier changes traditionally take place at the beginning of January, but as can be seen from OTE\'s statistics, customers\' efforts to change their supplier can also be seen in the following months. Most customers switched suppliers in 2021, which was marked by the onset of the energy crisis. At that time, however, the changes were mainly influenced by the collapse of some suppliers.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em>"The results of the statistics for the past year show that the electricity and gas supply market in the Czech Republic is functioning. Customers have learned to navigate the market environment, they monitor price developments and the associated various price offers from which they choose the most advantageous. We are happy to help with this, both from the point of view of the administration of the entire process of changing suppliers, and also by organizing short-term markets that provide price signals",</em> says Michal Puchel, chairman of the company\'s board of directors OTE, a.s.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em>"The electricity market in the Czech Republic is open to all consumers of electricity and gas. <p>Greenhouse gas emissions in the Czech Republic dropped by 13% in 2024 compared to 2023, according to data recorded in the European Union\'s single registry, which is administered by the Czech company OTE. The obligation to report their emissions applies to 5 aircraft operators and 147 companies operating 213 stationary installations that are part of the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) in the Czech Republic.</p> <p><br />These emissions for 2024 in the Czech Republic amounted to 40.9 million tonnes of CO2e, a year-on-year decrease of 13%. Therefore, a long-term downward trend in emissions produced in the Czech Republic continues, as shown by the figures in the following graph representing the EU ETS emissions of CO2, N2O and PFCs in the Czech Republic since 2005.</p> <p><img class="image-inline" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" src="../../../cs/o-spolecnosti/zpravy_ote/povolenky.png" alt="" data-linktype="externalImage" data-scale="large" data-val="https://www.ote-cr.cz/cs/o-spolecnosti/zpravy_ote/povolenky.png" /></p> <p><strong>EU ETS emissions of CO2, N2O and PFCs in the Czech Republic</strong> (total, in tonnes of CO2 equivalent)<br />The obligation to monitor and report their emissions of greenhouse gases emitted into the air in the previous calendar year and subsequently surrender allowances in the amount corresponding to their emissions applies specifically to operators of installations for each installation, that has been issued a permit by the Ministry of the Environment to emit greenhouse gases into the air, and aircraft operators for each aircraft that has an operating license issued in the Czech Republic or falls under the administration of the Czech Republic according to the list of aircraft operators issued by the European Commission. The European Union\'s single registry is used to record emissions and allowances, and the national administrator of this registry is OTE.</p> <p><br />"The reduction in emissions in the Czech Republic last year was higher than the average reduction in Europe, which was 5%. This is due to a stronger industrial presence in the Czech economy as well as the Czech energy mix with a higher share of coal-fired power plants, which for economic reasons are used relatively less year-on-year. ", says Michal Puchel, Chairman of the Board of Directors.<br /><br />The EU ETS is the cornerstone of the EU\'s climate policy and its key instrument for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It was the world\'s first carbon market and is still one of the largest. <p>The market operator is providing further information on the opportunity for electricity day-ahead market participants in the Czech Republic to join the pan-European testing for the implementation of 15-minute products on the Single Day-Ahead Electricity Market. <strong>The testing will take place from April 7 to May 15 in the OTE Sandbox2 testing environment</strong> (<a href="https://portal.isotetest.ote-cr.cz/common/app/login">OTE WebPortal</a>).</p> <p><strong>Detailed instructions, test descriptions, and individual test scenarios can be found in the dedicated document, which can be accessed <u><a href="https://ote-cr.cz/en/documentation/electricity-documentation/sdac-15mtu-member-testing-1-1.pdf" data-linktype="external" data-val="https://ote-cr.cz/en/documentation/electricity-documentation/sdac-15mtu-member-testing-1-1.pdf">here</a>.</u></strong></p> <p>During the testing, day-ahead market participants will have the opportunity to verify the processes and settings of their systems concerning the introduction of 15-minute products on the day-ahead market in the Czech Republic and Europe. We welcome the involvement of as many market participants as possible in the testing, as this collaborative testing effort will allow market operators and transmission system operators to refine and optimize the relevant processes. <p><strong>After the successful integration of the Czech intraday electricity market into the Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC) in 2019 and enabling trading in 15-minute trading periods on the Czech-Slovak, Czech-German, and Czech-Austrian cross-border interconnectors in 2024, the trading period was successfully switched to 15-minute for the last Czech-Polish interconnector on March 18, 2025. This was completed in the implementation wave that also included transition to 15-minute in Norway (all bidding zones), Portugal, Spain, and Poland. At the same time, the Romanian-Hungarian and Romanian-Bulgarian borders were integrated into the European Intraday Auctions (IDA).</strong></p> <p>The successful rollout of the 15-minute MTU across nearly all of Europe’s internal bidding zones and interconnectors marks a major milestone.
