The Launch of Guarantees of Origin Auctions and Credit System Postponed Due to Absence of Implementing Regulation

Due to the absence of the implementing regulation to Act No. 165/2012 Coll., on Supported Energy Sources, the timeline for the launch of both the Guarantees of Origin (GoO) auctions and the credit system within the system for the Registration of Compliance with Renewable Energy Use in Transport is being revised.

This implementing regulation constitutes a necessary precondition for the operational launch of both mechanisms. As a result, it is currently not possible to:

  • conduct the first Guarantees of Origin auction as originally planned for July 2026, nor
  • make the credit system (Registration of Compliance with Renewable Energy Use in Transport) available as of 1 July 2026.

Once further details regarding the effective date of the regulation become available (expected during the summer of 2026), an updated timeline for both processes will be published.

Contractual Arrangements and Testing Environment

Notwithstanding the above, it is already possible to proceed with the following:

  • Guarantees of Origin auctions: conclude agreements on access to the auction platform with account holders in the Guarantees of Origin registry system,
  • Credit system: conclude agreements on access to the Registration of Compliance with Renewable Energy Use in Transport with entities eligible to hold an account under the applicable legislation.

These agreements will enable future participation in auctions and use of the credit system, while also granting access to the testing environment.
