<p>As part of automated AMQP communication on the Intraday Electricity and Gas Market, a modification of the interface is planned whereby the XML message format will be replaced by the binary data format <strong>Protocol Buffers</strong>. There will be <strong>no changes on the user side</strong> when using the Intraday Electricity and Gas Market application or mobile applications.</p> <p>The automated communication interface of the Intraday Electricity Market (IDM Electricity) and the Intraday Gas Market (IDM Gas) towards market participants is currently implemented using the AMQP protocol with message transmission in XML format. Due to the need to ensure adequate performance and stability of the central XBID system, and also with regard to the future development of intraday trading and the legislative requirement to transition intraday cross-border capacity allocation to the <strong>Flow-based</strong> mechanism, the SIDC project (Single Intraday Coupling) will introduce a change in the message communication format for data exchanges between the central XBID solution and local trading systems (LTS) operated by NEMOs. The XML message format will be replaced by a binary format based on <strong>Protocol Buffers</strong>.</p> <p>From the perspective of the transition to the new communication format on the XBID side, the communication concept itself (the existing portfolio of communication scenarios and the AMQP protocol) will remain unchanged. In light of this planned change, it will also be necessary to adapt the communication interface on the OTE CS side to the intended Protocol Buffers binary format, so that the increased performance and communication speed can also be reflected in the interface between OTE and market participants.</p> <p>The change of the communication format will apply to the automated communication of both IDM Electricity and IDM Gas towards market participants. The provided documentation includes the following:</p> <ul> <li><strong>An updated version of the Electricity and Gas Message Format Manuals</strong>, reflecting the new communication message format. <p><strong>ČEPS and OTE to Extend Cross-Border Intraday Electricity Trading up to 30 Minutes Before Delivery</strong></p> <p><strong>ČEPS, a.s., the transmission system operator, and OTE, a.s., the nominated electricity market operator, are extending the possibility of cross-border trading on the continuous intraday electricity market up to 30 minutes before delivery (currently 60 minutes). This change will be implemented on the borders with Germany and Austria as of the delivery day 14 January 2026.</strong></p> <p>The change, implemented in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2024/1747, will enable to trade electricity on the continuous intraday market using cross-border transmission capacity as of the delivery day 14 January 2026 until 30 minutes before the start of the interval delivery (currently i tis up to 60 minutes before delivery). Afterwards, local trading will remain available without allocated cross-border capacity, until five minutes before delivery. The new, shorter gate closure time for cross-border continuous intraday trading will be introduced on the borders with Germany and Austria. The Czech Republic is thus joining other countries that are preparing to implement this adjustment at the earliest possible date. This flexibility is particularly important in light of the growing share of renewable energy sources, whose production can be variable and less predictable. The new setup will enable market participants to optimize their trading positions more efficiently, reduce imbalance costs, and contribute to overall system stability.</p> <p><strong>Trading on Borders with Poland and Slovakia Remains Unchanged</strong></p> <p>The gate closure time for cross-border continuous intraday trading on the borders with Slovakia and Poland will remain 60 minutes before delivery. This is due to requests for derogation submitted by the transmission system operators of Slovakia and Poland to their respective national regulatory authorities. Once the specific implementation date for the extended cross-border trading on these borders is confirmed, market participants will be informed in advance.</p>
