Autumn Gas Conference and Current Gas Market Developments from OTE’s Perspective

(Prague 27 Oct, 2026) The Autumn Gas Conference took place in České Budějovice last week and included a panel discussion on current developments in the European gas market. OTE was represented in the discussion by Chairman of the Board Michal Puchel.

One of the topics discussed was the current level of gas and electricity prices. Michal Puchel pointed out that high prices are not caused by the functioning of exchanges or trading platforms, but primarily by constrained gas supplies and disruptions to global transportation routes. Even in periods of heightened uncertainty, the role of organised markets is to efficiently match supply with demand and provide market participants with tools to manage their portfolios.

The discussion also covered related guarantees of origin and the upcoming auctions of guarantees of origin, an important area of OTE’s activities.
