Information on claiming compensation for electricity and gas for a specified period (annual settlement) and invitation to a workshop

Pursuant to Government Regulation No. 5/2023 Coll., on compensation provided for the delivery of electricity and gas at fixed prices, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulation"), the market operator informs suppliers delivering electricity and gas to end customers in the Czech Republicthat from 1 April 2024 it will be possible to submit applications for compensation of capped prices for end customers (annual settlement) via the OTE Portal.

The manual for the submission of the application for compensation of capped prices for end customers has been published today on the public website of OTE here: https://www.ote-cr.cz/cs/dokumentace/kompenzace.

Forms have been made available for suppliers to try out the submission of the final monthly applications on the Sandbox test environment.

We would also like to remind you that on Tuesday 12 March 2024 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. an online webinar (workshop) of the Energy Regulatory Office and OTE will be held to provide basic information on the submission of applications for compensation of capped prices for end customers in Electricity and Gas market in the Czech Republic. The workshop is expected to last 90 minutes. The webinar will be in Czech language only.  The subject of the workshop will be in particular:

  • Presentation of the forms and work with the application for compensation of capped prices for end customers in CS OTE.
  • Methodology of processing documents for compensation application - the most common errors in CSV files and how to avoid them

An invitation to the event including login details has already been sent out by email on 15 February 2024 to suppliers delivering electricity and gas in the Czech Republic, a link with login details is also available on the CS OTE portal news bulletin.

Pursuant to Article 14e(2) of the Regulation, if a trader does not submit a request for compensation for a specified period but has been granted monthly compensation for any month of the specified period or an extraordinary advance, the electricity or gas trader shall settle the difference between the compensation for the specified period and the total advance by returning the total advance to the market operator within 14 calendar days of the expiry of the deadline for submitting a request for compensation for the specified period.
