Shutdown maintenance of CS OTE from June 12, 2024, to June 13, 2024 – reminder of the implemented changes

The market operator reminds market participants that from Wednesday, June 12, 2024, approximately from 04:00 p.m., to Thursday, June 13, 2024, approximately until 01:00 a.m., the production environment of the information system of the market operator ('CS OTE') will be unavailable due to the shutdown maintenance necessary for the deployment of several significant changes. These are in particular:

  • deployment of the new web interface of the CS OTE portal for selected forms and reports, including modifications to their graphic design,
  • deployment of the Intraday Auctions ('IDA') module within the short-term electricity markets operated by the market operator and
  • deployment of new (universal) message formats used for communication with CS OTE (WSDL and XSD templates).

These changes are necessary for a smooth transition to 15-min. settlement and trading period as of July 1, 2024 and the start of Intraday Auctions from June 13, 2024. The impacts for market participants were presented in detail during the webinar held on May 28, 2024 (link to the presentation). Here is an overview of the most important changes:

Day-Ahead Market

  • From June 13, 2024 (after the end of the shutdown maintenance), it will be possible to enter offers for the delivery day June 14, 2024 and the following delivery days in the new web interface and using new message formats (including automatic communication).

Intraday Auctions

  • From June 13, 2024, 11:00 a.m., it will be possible to submit orders at intraday auctions. The first organized IDA will be IDA1 with the gate closure time at 15:00 on June 13, 2024 (at which all periods of the delivery day June 14, 2024, will be traded).
  • Detailed information on trading at IDA is provided both in the presentation from the webinar held on May 28, 2024 (link to download here) and in the presentation from the webinar held on March 7, 2024 (link here).

Registration of Realization Diagrams ('RRD')

  • From June 13, 2024, ERD data will be sent in the new "CIM" format. At the same time, it will be possible to create new templates of implementation diagrams:

• at 60 min. resolution only for delivery days June 14, 2024 – June 30, 2024,

• at 15 min. resolution only for delivery days July 1, 2024 onwards.

  • In order to use Automatic Communication, it is necessary to add information enabling the use of the CIM format via the appropriate form. The completed form with the required parameters for automatic communication settings please send to
market@ote-cr.cz (detailed information was provided on the webinar on May 28, 2024, here).
  • Due to the transition to 15 min. trading period from July 1, 2024, we ask market participants to do the following, by June 12, 2024, 15:00:

• remove RRD data submitted before June 13, 2024, in 60-min. resolution for the period from the date of delivery July 1, 2024 and onwards, otherwise these RRD data will be automatically cancelled during the shutdown maintenance from June 12, 2024 to June 13, 2024!

• set the end of the delivery period of the original templates of Realization Diagrams to June 30, 2024, for templates exceeding the delivery period beyond July 1, 2024, otherwise the end of the delivery period of the original templates of Realization Diagrams will be automatically set to June 30, 2024, during the shutdown maintenance from June 12, 2024 to June 13, 2024!

Signature OTE PKI component

  • From June 13, 2024, it will be necessary to have the current version of the signature OTE PKI component (version 2.6) installed, note that this version is compatible with both the new and the existing CS OTE interface, therefore we recommend installing the current version as soon as possible before June 13, 2024!
  • Please note that if the user does not install the current version of the signature OTE PKI component (version 2.6), they face the risk that the CS OTE portal will not work correctly from June 13, 2024.
  • Details for downloading the new version of the signature component were given on the webinar on May 28, 2024 here and are also available here.

Change of the unit for the traded quantity (MWh -> MW) on short-term electricity markets (Day-Ahead Market, Continuous Intraday Market, Intraday Auctions) and in the Registration of Realization Diagrams

  • For the given trading period (delivery hour, quarter delivery hour resp.) there is a change in the unit for the traded quantity, when the quantity will be entered only in MW from June 13, 2024.

• until the delivery day June 30, 2024 (included) only 60-min. the trading period remains on all short-term electricity markets and in the realization diagrams (i.e. orders/realization diagrams will be entered only for a given hour), in which case the entered quantity in MW for the given hour corresponds to the quantity in MWh for the given hour.

• from the delivery day July 1, 2024, the settlement period changes to 15-min. and correspondingly also the trading periods changes to 15-min. on the Continuous Intraday Market with electricity*, Intraday Auctions and in the Realization Diagrams, in which case the entered amount in MW for a given quarter of an hour corresponds to energy in MWh in the amount of one-quarter of the entered amount in MW in this trading period (i.e. the entered 10 MW for the period 00:00 – 00:15 corresponds (in case of a successful trade) to the traded energy in the amount of 2.5 MWh in this quarter of an hour).

In the case that the deployment of the planned changes requires an extension of the shutdown maintenance beyond the notified 01:00 a.m. on June 13, 2024, the shutdown maintenance will continue until a resolution and successful deployment of the changes or a possible so-called "rollback" of the deployed changes (i.e., return to the original state of the system before June 13, 2024). Furthermore, we warn participants that on June 13, 2024, there may be outages of the CS OTE system or its sub-parts, especially with an impact on the possibilities of trading through OTE trading platforms.

In this context, we ask market participants to monitor the website of the market operator, especially during the shutdown maintenance and after the deployment of changes, and continuously monitor the communication channels used by the market operator.

All currently available information on the introduction of the 15-min. settlement and trading period and intraday auctions is available on the market operator's website.

We would also like to remind you of the online webinar that will be held on Tuesday June 18, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at which further technical and organizational steps associated with the changes expected from June 25, 2024 and the transition to the 15-min. settlement and trading period in CS OTE as of July 1, 2024 will be specified. The invitation, including login data, was sent by email to all market participants registered in CS OTE, and the link with login data is also available on the notice board of the CS OTE portal.

* From July 1, 2024, regarding the Continuous Intraday Market, the trading period will involve both 15-min. and 60-min.  resolution (i.e. it will be possible to trade both 15-min. and 60-min. products on the Continuous Intraday Market).
