The Volume of Gas traded on OTE’s Intraday Market has exceeded its historical Maximum

The Intraday Gas Market (IM Gas) reached another record in traded volumes since trading commenced in 2010, with a total of 3.785 TWh traded between 1st January 2019 and 30th October 2019. We have thus exceeded the current maximum amount 3.747 TWh of gas traded in 2017 as well as the annual amount traded in 2018 (3.059 TWh), which was exceeded in mid-September 2019. This record confirms the positive trend of trading on our intraday market platform OTE-COM.

The weighted average of prices for the period from 1st January 2019 to 30th October 2019 amounts to 14.13 EUR/MWh, which represents a year-on-year decline in the price of gas on the intraday gas market by 40%.

The market operator further organizes a block electricity market, day-ahead electricity market, intraday electricity market and balancing market with regulating energy. Currently, 123 market participants have access to the short-term electricity markets and 98 market participants to the short-term gas market.
